Inhabitants
Vetara
The sea-faring descendants of old Vetara, though they have mixed somewhat with the Ansium populations of Elves and Humans, this is frowned upon and they retain most of their forefather's features. They inhabit the coastal regions and live mostly on the Orvetros that dot the Orvaelean coast. They are widely recognized as the greatest shipwrights in Ansium (and possibly the world).
Vaelan
The Vetara that chose to live on land and mix fully with the native inhabitants. Their vetaran features are often softened with those of the humans or elves they have bred with and are often shorter than their sea-faring cousins. They are also seen as friendlier and more amorous by outsiders, who find them a romantic peoples.
Elvor
The Elves of Orvaelos are smaller and darker skinned than those to the north, and traveled westward from the expansive deserts to the east after the fall of the Nagolish Empire. They are small in number and serve mostly as skilled craftsmen, using secret family skills to create everything from armor to pottery to musical instruments. Most Elvor live in family communes in the trade districts of major cities and villages on popular trade routes.
Nagoli
Large brutish peoples descended from the once great Nagolish Empire. Little is known about them and they are seemingly not inclined to remedy that soon. They live mostly in the high mountain regions to the north.
Dwarn
Small furry peoples of limited intelligence, believed to the cousins to the Dwarves of the northern regions. Once common as slaves before it was outlawed after the great alliance with the other territories of Ansium, they remain at the bottom of the Orvaelean economy as field hands, dishwashers, miners and the like. Doing the jobs too dangerous or demeaning for other citizens.
Stoutlings
Language
The most-used languages of Orvaelos are Vetaran and a human dialect best related to the Groamish tongue.
Climate and Ecology
It is often said Orvaelos is as close to paradise as one can get on Ansium. A beautiful land of rolling hills filled with seemingly endless flowered grasslands dotted with sparse forests of oak with denser coastal forests in western Luwath. The summers are dry and comfortably hot and the winters only mildly chilly and rainy.
Notable Features
Orvetros
An anchored, floating city built from ship hulls and dock-like segmented 'streets'. Inhabited mostly by the descendants of the Vetara who first settled Orvaelos after the fall of the Nagolish.
Nagolish Ruins
Ruins from the Nagolish Empire left from their mysterious fall almost 1000 years ago. The ruins have been cared for by the Vaelan and in some cases restored to their former glory.
